La Baula Lodge

Placed strategically, opposite to the “Tortuguero  Lagoon” and at only 5 minutes by boat to the Tortuguero National Park, the most important place of the Western Caribbean side for the nesting of the Green Turtle, and other species such as the Baula and the Carey turtles which also become present in this area. Lagoons and navigable canals shape the National Park and are also the habitat of many species such as crocodiles, caimans, birds, turtles, and the millennial fossil Gaspar fish among others; this exuberant national park was created to protect the wide variety of flora and fauna found in the area.
 
Our Lodge offers a total of 54 standard rooms, with fan, a double and a single bed in every room, private bath, decorated and painted with upbeat Caribbean colors; it also offers an elegant restaurant and an open-air jungle-bar located in front of the Tortuguero lagoon, offering both an impressive sight, excellence in service, a variety in national international and of course Caribbean drinks and meals, our restaurant is provided with capacity of up to 150 people, we also provide the following services: swimming pool, souvenir shop, spacious and beautiful tropical gardens, laundry service, experienced guides and a first class service.
 
La Baula Lodge offers our guest’s packages of 1, 2 or more nights with transportation to Tortuguero by bus - boat or if they prefer we can also provide a combination of air and boat transportation.

Laguna Lodge is a rain forest ecotourism lodge, a leader among this tropical country’s hotels and resorts with an extra touch in style, comfort and personalized service.
It lies along Costa Rica’s northern Caribbean Zone, an exclusive location on a narrow strip of land between the sea on one side and the Tortuguero-Lagoon on the other.
 This Region is the most important nesting site in the entire Western half of the Caribbean for the green sea turtle. The season starts around mid July and ends by October and you could be able to take one of our night walks to search for green sea turtles.
The Lodge offers 80 standard rooms with views to the gardens and forest that surrounds us. The rooms offer private bathroom, hot water, ceiling fan, reading lamps, wooden bench outside your room to sit and admire the gardens.

Tortuguero:

Tortuguero is one of the most varied within the park system, has 11 ecological habitats, from high rainforest to herbaceous marsh communities. Fronting the sea is the seemingly endless expanse of beach.
Behind that is a narrow lagoon, connected to the sea at one end and fed by a river at the other, which parallels the beach for its full 35-km length. Back of the lagoon is a coastal rainforest threaded by an infinite maze of serpentine channels and streams fed by rivers flowing from the central mountain ranges and by thel rains that fall in the area. On the periphery of the forest lies a complex of swamps

Tortuguero, is a navigable network of lagoons and canals that cross the National Park from Southeast to Northwest. As a general rule, nature watching is amazing. But a long-time favorite is the nesting of the greed sea turtle, an awesome phenomenon that can be observed every year from July to October and that attracts observers from all over the world.
